Vampire Skin: 2026's Viral Luminous Glow Trend, Step by Step

Forget liner and lashes, this week's viral goth micro trend is all about the skin. Here's our vegan, cruelty free step by step to that pale, luminous, lit from within...

There's a new micro trend haunting our TikTok feeds this week, and it has nothing to do with liner or lashes. It's all about the skin itself. Vampire skin is having a proper resurgence right now, racking up millions of views as alt girls swap matte, flat bases for something translucent, luminous and faintly otherworldly. Think glass skin, but if the glass had been sitting in a crypt for two hundred years. 🦇

We've covered plenty of eyes and lips lately, so this week we're going under the base. Here's our step by step, entirely vegan and cruelty free guide to getting that lit from within, barely there, "does she eat or does she simply glow" complexion.

What actually is vampire skin?

Forget bronzer and heavy contour. Vampire skin is about pale, poreless looking, almost damp luminosity: skin that catches candlelight rather than sunlight. It leans into a cool, ethereal undertone with strategic shimmer instead of an all over highlight, so it reads as skin, not sparkle. It's the make up equivalent of a period drama heroine who's just been for a moonlit walk in the grounds, possibly with a suitor she shouldn't trust.

Step one: prep like the undead

Vampire skin lives or dies (sorry) on prep. You need skin that's soft and slightly plump before a scrap of product goes anywhere near it. Start with the Vitamin Rich Miracle Moisturiser & Primer to smooth texture and give your base something to grip onto, then follow with the GLOW+ Skin Perfecting Elixir, which is quite literally "for skin that glows like it was never meant to belong to the living." Honestly, we couldn't have written the brief better ourselves.

Step two: a base you can see through

The biggest mistake with this trend is going in too heavy. You want skin, not a mask. Whatever base you normally reach for, apply it thinly and buff it into nothing using the BASEBLEND Pro Makeup Sponge. Damp it first so it presses product into the skin rather than sitting on top, and stop before you'd normally consider yourself "done". Vampire skin wants to look like your pores made peace with the afterlife, not like you're wearing a second face.

Step three: catch the light, don't wear it

This is where the "vampire" part earns its name. Skip your usual all over highlighter and instead press a whisper of shimmer high on the cheekbones, down the bridge of the nose and along the collarbones, exactly where candlelight would land on someone far more interesting than the rest of us. Our Second Skin Powder Highlighter in Saintly gives a cool, ghostly sheen, while Dreaming leans slightly warmer if you want a touch less crypt and a touch more candlelight.

Step four: the smallest whisper of life

Fully bloodless skin can tip from "romantic undead" into "unwell", so vampire skin gets one tiny concession to the living: a hint of flush, placed high on the cheeks and blended until it nearly disappears. Our Second Skin Powder Blush in Dusty Rose is the perfect shade for this, cool toned enough that it reads as "just been for a walk in the mist" rather than "just been to the gym".

Step five: blend it into oblivion

Every bit of this look relies on soft, seamless blending. Sharp edges will pull you straight out of the fantasy, so take your time with a proper set of brushes like our Ethereal PRO Face Makeup Brush Set to melt the highlighter and blush into your base until there's no visible starting or stopping point. For lips, keep it sheer and glassy rather than fully opaque. A slick of our Electric Lip Gloss in Myth adds just enough dimension without competing with the skin for attention.

And that's it. No liner, no lashes, no drama at the eyes at all this time, just skin so luminous it looks lit from somewhere else entirely. It's giving Victorian ghost, moonlit graveyard wander, "I have never once been in direct sunlight" and honestly, we're obsessed.

As always, every product mentioned here is vegan and cruelty free, because looking undead shouldn't cost anyone their actual life. Try it this week and tag us, we'd love to see your take on it. 🖤
