Ghost Lashes: 2026's Palest, Most Ethereal Goth Trend, Step by Step

White mascara tips, translucent skin and barely there brows: this week's alt beauty obsession is Ghost Lashes, the palest, most ethereal goth look yet.

Something spectral is happening on the internet's alt beauty corner this week. Between fall makeup roundups naming "Ghost Lashes" and "Ethereal Goths" as one of the season's defining looks, and the general shift away from heavy, opaque vampy makeup, we're seeing a softer, paler kind of haunting take hold. Think Victorian mourning portraits, moth wings, and moonlight through lace curtains rather than dripping blood and full black lips. 🦇

We've done blood drip lips, vampire skin and trad goth deathrock on this blog already this month, so today we're going somewhere quieter: pale, luminous, faintly unsettling in the best way. This is goth makeup that whispers instead of shouts.

What are Ghost Lashes, exactly?

The trend is built around lashes that look bleached or dusted with frost rather than jet black, paired with translucent, almost bloodless skin and barely there brows. On the runway and on TikTok this is often done with literal white mascara. We don't stock that (yet), so we've adapted the technique using products already in your kit: a touch of pearl highlighter worked through the tips of your lashes with a clean spoolie. Same spectral effect, no new product required.

As always, everything below is vegan and cruelty free, because a good haunting shouldn't cost anyone their life.

Step 1: Prime for porcelain

Start with clean, hydrated skin. Our Vitamin Rich Miracle Moisturiser & Primer preps the canvas without adding any warmth or glow you'll need to cancel out later. Ghost lashes work best against skin that reads cool and quiet, so resist the urge to reach for a bronzer here.

Depuff and brighten the under eye with a pair of Starry Eyed Undereye Patches while you do the rest of your skin prep. Ten minutes under these and you'll have that faintly luminous, sleepless spirit look without actually losing any sleep.

Step 2: Build a translucent base

Skip full coverage foundation entirely. Instead, spot conceal only where you need to with the Second Skin Concealer, choosing a shade a touch lighter than your natural tone. Blend it thin, almost sheer, so your own skin texture still shows through. The aim is pale and a little translucent, not chalky.

Sweep the Second Skin Powder Highlighter in Euphoria across your cheekbones, brow bone and the bridge of your nose. This is doing double duty today: it gives you that lit from within, faintly otherworldly glow, and you'll dip back into it in a moment for the lashes themselves.

Step 3: Quiet eyes with a hint of shimmer

Sweep the Multichrome Liquid Eyeshadow in Hubble Bubble across the lid and gently into the crease. It gives an opalescent, shifting sheen, a bit like light catching cobwebs, without ever tipping into full colour.

Line only the upper lash line, close to the roots, with the Smoulder Eyeliner Pencil in Black, then smudge it immediately with a cotton bud so it reads more like a shadow than a line. Ghost lashes are about softness everywhere except the very tips of your lashes, so keep this step deliberately understated.

Step 4: The ghosting technique

Curl your lashes, then build volume from root to tip with two coats of AMPLIFIED Mascara. Once it's fully dry, take a clean spoolie, dip the very tip into that same Euphoria highlighter, and gently comb it through just the outer third of your lashes. You're aiming for a faint frosted dusting at the tips, as if they've been touched by something cold. Less is more here: two or three light passes will do it.

Step 5: A bloodless mouth

Line your lips fully with the Eternal Lip Liner in Veil, then blend the colour inward with your fingertip rather than adding gloss or stain on top. Veil gives a soft, faded, almost bruised nude that keeps the whole look pale and quiet rather than pulling focus with a bold lip.

Step 6: Seal the haunting

Finish with a generous mist of Mosh Proof Setting Spray to lock everything in place, holding the bottle at arm's length and closing your eyes as you go. This will keep the frosted lash tips from smudging and the pale base from shifting, whether you're heading to a candlelit dinner or just haunting your own kitchen at 2am.

Wear it well

Ghost lashes are forgiving precisely because they're so pared back: there's no harsh line to keep perfect, no bold colour to touch up every hour. Just soft, cool, faintly luminous skin and lashes that catch the light in a way that feels a little otherworldly. Try it for a gig, a gallery opening, or simply because September has arrived and something in you wants to look like you've just wandered out of an old photograph.

Tag us if you give it a go. We'd love to see your take on it. 🖤
